Prof. Vuyisile Msila is a distinguished scholar in Public Leadership Studies at the University of South Africa, specializing in African thought, decolonization, and educational leadership. His extensive academic journey includes roles as Acting Director of the Research and Knowledge Hub and Director of Change Management, where he has driven transformative initiatives in higher education. He holds multiple degrees, including a Ph.D. in Education and a Master’s in Conflict Transformation. Prof. Msila is an accomplished author with numerous peer-reviewed articles and books focused on Africanisation, teacher leadership, and cognitive justice in education. He actively engages in keynote addresses and research initiatives aimed at promoting social justice and educational transformation in Africa.

Prof. Vuyisile Msila has had an illustrious career in education and leadership. Since February 2023, he has served as a Professor of Public Leadership Studies at the Thabo Mbeki African School of Public and International Affairs, University of South Africa, where he conducts research and teaches African Thought and Leadership. He previously held positions such as Acting Director of the Research and Knowledge Hub and Director of the Change Management Unit, focusing on decolonization and transformation. His extensive experience also includes roles at the University of Johannesburg and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, where he taught and supervised numerous postgraduate students. 🌍📚

Prof. Vuyisile Msila’s academic journey spans various institutions and degrees, reflecting his commitment to education and leadership. He graduated from Newell High School in 1983, completing his Standard 10. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Vista University (2002) and a Master of Philosophy in Conflict Transformation and Management from Nelson Mandela University (2012). Additionally, he earned a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching from Michigan State University (2001) and a Master of Education from Vista University (1999). His foundational education includes a Bachelor of Arts Honours in English Literature and a Higher Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Town. 🌍✨

 

Awards and Recognitions 🏆✨

Prof. Vuyisile Msila has received numerous accolades for his outstanding contributions to research and education. In 2021, he earned a prestigious C2 Rating from the National Research Foundation (NRF). His commitment to excellence was recognized with the Chancellor’s Prize for Excellence in Research at UNISA in 2013 and a C3 Rating from NRF in 2012. Additionally, he was part of the NPDE team at UNISA that received the Excellence in Tuition Award for materials development in 2004. His academic journey also includes the Mandela Fellowship at Michigan State University in 2000 and a Fulbright Fellowship to study in the USA in 1999. 🌟📜
