Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abenezer Wakuma Kitila is an Associate Professor in Urban and Regional Development Planning at Haramaya University, Ethiopia. He earned his Ph.D. in Geography (Urban Studies) from the University of South Africa (2018), along with an M.A. in Urban and Regional Development Planning from Addis Ababa University (2012). Dr. Kitila specializes in urban expansion, electronic waste management, and sustainable development, with over 13 research publications in esteemed journals like Waste Management and International Planning Studies. He has led multiple academic initiatives, including launching urban planning programs and supervising doctoral theses. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abenezer Wakuma Kitila earned his Ph.D. in Geography (Urban Studies) from the University of South Africa (2018), an MA in Urban and Regional Development Planning from Addis Ababa University (2012), and a B.Ed. in Geography from Mekelle University (2008). Promoted to Associate Professor in Urban and Regional Development Planning at Haramaya University (2020), he has expertise in GIS, SPSS, research methodology, and gender mainstreaming. Academic Leadership and Teaching

Since February 2020, Dr. Abenezer Wakuma Kitila has served as an Associate Professor at Haramaya University, Ethiopia. He teaches Urban and Regional Development Planning courses for undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral students and supervises theses at both levels. A member of the Board of Examiners, he also chairs program launches, including Urban Planning and Urban Land Administration. His role extends to research, community service, and training urban development officials. Dr. Abenezer Wakuma Kitila has held various academic roles at Haramaya University, Ethiopia. As an Assistant Professor (2016–2020), he taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Urban and Regional Development Planning, supervised MA theses, and chaired the Postgraduate Program in Geography. From 2012 to 2016, he served as a Lecturer, leading undergraduate courses, coordinating the Urban Planning Program, and chairing curriculum development efforts. Additionally, he contributed as the Head of the School of Geography and Environmental Studies and participated in multiple academic committees.
