Prof. Dr. Angelika Bátorová is a leading Slovak hematologist, serving as Head of the Department of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and Director of the National Hemophilia Centre at University Hospital Bratislava. A professor at Comenius University, she is recognized internationally for her work in bleeding disorders, particularly hemophilia. With clinical leadership, research innovation, and educational roles, she has significantly contributed to advancing care standards in Slovakia and Europe. Dr. Bátorová earned her MD and PhD from the Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University in Bratislava. She trained in Internal Medicine and later specialized in Hematology and Transfusion Medicine through the University Hospital and the Institute of Postgraduate Medicine. Her postgraduate training included prestigious fellowships at the National Hemophilia Centre in Tel Aviv, Israel, and the New York Blood Center, USA. She also trained at comprehensive hemophilia care centers across Europe. Her education and training laid a strong foundation for her career in clinical hematology, research, and leadership in bleeding disorder management at both national and international levels.

Prof. Bátorová is the Head of the Department of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine and Director of the National Hemophilia Centre at University Hospital Bratislava. She is a professor of Internal Medicine at Comenius University and serves as the Chief Expert for Hematology for the Slovak Ministry of Health. Her leadership transformed Slovakia’s hemophilia care, including establishing national registries and developing clinical protocols. She has led numerous working groups, participated in international research consortia, and contributed to global medical guidelines. Her experience spans clinical management, policy development, academic leadership, and mentorship in hematology and rare bleeding disorders.
🔹 Awards and Honors
In 1996, Dr. Bátorová received the prestigious award from the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) for her significant contributions to improving hemophilia care in Slovakia. She served as a past Executive Committee member of the WFH and as a member of the Medical Advisory Group of the European Hemophilia Consortium. She is also a former President of the Slovak Society of Hematology. Her ongoing leadership roles include Chair of the Slovak Hemophilia Working Group and active membership in EAHAD. She continues to be recognized for her scholarly work, leadership, and global impact on hematology and patient-centered care.

Prof. Bátorová’s research focuses on hemostasis, thrombosis, hemophilia, and rare bleeding disorders. She was instrumental in initiating Slovakia’s National Registry of hemophilia and the Hemophilia Gene Registry. Her clinical research emphasizes pharmacokinetic-guided prophylaxis, surgery management, care for patients with inhibitors, von Willebrand disease, and congenital factor deficiencies. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, textbook chapters, and conference presentations. Her work has contributed to international guidelines and improved patient outcomes.
