Their dissertation, titled “Making space for Critical Race Theory within therapeutic settings: understanding the significance of race in serving racial and ethnic women minorities,” reflects their commitment to exploring issues of race, ethnicity, and therapy. Prior to their PhD, they completed a Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2010 and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology in 2008, both from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Erica Campbell brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role as an Associate Professor at Fayetteville State University’s School of Social Work in Fayetteville, NC, where she has served since 2020. Prior to this position, she held roles as an Assistant Professor at the same institution from 2014 to 2020 and as an Assistant Professor at Shaw University’s Department of Social Work in Raleigh, NC, from 2013 to 2014. Dr. Campbell’s academic journey includes instructional roles at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she served as an Instructor and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies from 2011 to 2013. Her commitment to social work extends beyond academia, as evidenced by her experience as a Therapist at Journey Through Life PLLC in Raleigh, NC, from 2015 to 2017 and as a Social Worker at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veteran’s Hospital in Columbia, MO, from 2009 to 2012. Dr. Campbell’s teaching portfolio encompasses a diverse range of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Introduction to Social Work, Social Statistics and Research, Generalist Practice Methods, Substance Abuse, and various topics related to human behavior, diversity, and gender studies.
