Prof. Dr. Karim Kabalan is a distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the American University of Beirut, with a career spanning over three decades. He earned his Ph.D. (1985) and M.S. (1983) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Syracuse University, following a Licence in Physics from Lebanese University (1979). Prof. Dr. Karim Kabalan’s research expertise lies in electromagnetic and radio frequency engineering, antenna design, cognitive radio, and MIMO systems, with notable contributions in wearable health monitoring, breast tumor detection using antenna arrays, and 5G/mm-Wave fractal antennas. He has authored over 205 publications cited more than 1,565 times, with an h-index of 21, and contributed key book chapters and IEEE software tools. He has served as Chairperson of the ECE Department at AUB (2007–2014) and actively participated in engineering accreditation and education initiatives. His work demonstrates a strong combination of innovation, practical application, and interdisciplinary impact, establishing him as a leading figure in wireless and biomedical engineering research.
